This artwork is made up of 28 wooden placard signs, which spell out the statement 'All Schools Should Be Art Schools', a reaction against the demotion, and removal, of creative subjects from the national curriculum in 2016. When it was presented to Tate, school children carried it into Tate Modern as a statement of our belief in the importance of art for learning in the daily life of everyone. It's currently on display in Tate Liverpool as part of the Democracies display, from November 2020 to September 2023.

Bob and Roberta Smith is the pseudonym of British contemporary artist, author and musician Patrick Brill (born 1963). An outspoken art education advocate, the idea that political campaigns are actually extended art works is central to his work, and he is best known for his 'slogan art' in the form of painted signs. He trained as a sign painter in New York and uses text as an art form, creating colourful slogans on banners and placards that challenge elitism and advocate the importance of creativity in politics and education.
